Live Wedding Painting
How does Live Event Painting Work?
1. An appointment or phone interview is conducted to get all the details of the wedding or event.
2. During this, we discuss who is getting married. It also allows me to learn a little bit about the subjects of the painting.
3. We also discuss the logistics of the day and venue. I will obtain the venues contact information as they will be contacted to discover my arrival time and any other key information. A smooth and seamless arrival and set up is the goal.
4. The size and medium of the painting is then determined. While I will do unusual sizes if requested, I recommend a standard size for ease of framing. All paintings are matted and ready for framing when delivered. Special framing can be arranged at the expense of the couple.
5. We then determine the best way to deliver the final painting to you. Hand delivery is preferred but in some cases the painting will be shipped. A trackable method will be utilized, and you will be provided with the tracking number.
6. We will review painting sizes and package options to see what works best.
7. Finally, if we are comfortable with each other a contract will be endorsed by both parties and a 50% deposit will be required to secure your wedding date. I do not book any other events on that day. If the event is outside of a 50-mile radius, travel charges may be added.

On Your Wedding Day
On the day of your event, I arrive at least 1-2 hours prior to the start time. The exact arrival is usually determined by the venue.
I set up my easel, paints and in some cases a drop cloth in an area out of the way, but close enough to capture what is needed for the painting. If floor space is limited, I have a tabletop easel that can be used in lieu of a full-size easel.
I stay at the event for up to 4 hours and capture a moment in time that I feel will best represent your wedding/event in the form of Art. Most clients let me choose, but if you have something in mind, we can discuss that at our initial planning meeting.
I will complete a watercolor sketch at your event to ensure the correct color palette, lighting, composition and other elements are captured. I will stay up to four hours at your event and will quietly exit when I feel it is appropriate.
The final painting is done in studio and can take up to 2 weeks or more to complete depending on the time of year.
Once the painting is completed, I will contact you and send you a picture of the completed work. I will then hand deliver your wedding portrait or ship your painting to you. The method of delivery is set up in the initial planning session.

FAQ's Frequently Asked Question The Wedding Artist
How long have you been a Wedding Artist?
I have been an artist my entire life. I have a degree in Studio Art/Art Education and a bachelor's degree in Business from Lesley University. Recently, I completed all the requirements for Fashion Design Essentials at The Parsons School of Design in NYC. During the Covid shutdown I decided to learn to be a Travel Agent and partnered with the Travel Quest Network.
In addition to capturing your wedding in a painting, I can also take care of your travel needs. I paint in all mediums but have instructed and painted in watercolors since 2009. I have been capturing special moments live at weddings in watercolor since 2015.

Can guests approach you and ask you questions while you are painting?
Yes, they can, but I prefer all the attention to be on the bride and the groom.
What size paintings do you offer?
While any size painting can be created, it is recommended to order one of the following standard sizes for ease of framing.
11x14inches, 16x20inches, 18x24inches and 24x36inches.

What does it cost for an original wedding painting?
Prices start at $1495 for a 11x14 inch painting. The most common size ordered to be created is 16x20inches. Pricing for this size starts at $1995. I also offer a Premium Wedding Portrait package that includes, an original 16x20inch watercolor painting, matted and framed, hardware for hanging, (5) prints on high end giclee paper, and (25) thank you/note cards featuring your painting to send to guests, (more can be ordered al a carte). Pricing for the Premium Package start at $3295.

Can you paint more than one original wedding painting?
Absolutely, I can paint up to 3 live wedding paintings at your ceremony and reception.

Will you Travel to paint my wedding?
Absolutely. Most of my live wedding painting assignments have been throughout New England and in the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island & Vermont but if you have a wedding out of state and or have a destination wedding, I would love to speak with you. All travel costs are included up to 50 miles from my studio. Having an artist capture your wedding day is so unique and special to your wedding day, I wouldn’t want to not be able to offer this unique opportunity to a couple.

I see there is a premium package, but can we just order the Live Event Painting only?
Oh Yes prices start at $1495 for a painting only.

What if I have already had my wedding, can you paint from a photo?
Definitely, any photo from your wedding ceremony and reception can be turned into a watercolor painting. In fact, many couples will order a wedding portrait painting for their anniversary.

Can we choose the color of the mat or the type of frame?
I have available the following mat color choices for you custom wedding portrait; white, black, tan and grey. I recommend using a neutral color mat. Regarding the frame, the painting comes with a black, silver or gold frame. Any other type of frame would be at your expense and can be discussed during the planning session.

What if we want to order more prints or thank you cards featuring our painting?
A la carte ordering of prints and cards is available. A quote can be required upon request.

How long does it take for you to complete our wedding painting in your studio? On average I can complete your painting in up to 2 weeks. During the Spring and Fall there are times when I am busier so it may take longer, but I will do my best to provide an estimate.

How do you get the painting to us once it is completed?
During the planning session we will discuss the shipping logistics. If it can be hand delivered that is the preferred method. Once the painting is completed I will contact you using your preferred method of contact to let you know that the painting has been completed and is on its way. Typically, it is sent via UPS Ground or Fed Ex Ground. I will provide you with a tracking number. On my end, I will monitor the delivery to ensure it arrives in a timely manner.
How long do you keep our reference images and image of our completed painting on file in your studio? I will keep them for up to 10 years in the event you would like to order more prints, cards or anything else.

Can a family member or friend contact you to order extra prints, cards on their own? I would prefer to have the couple who exchanged nuptials to contact me to order additional prints or cards. In some cases, the parents of the couple will be the one placing the order and that is definitely welcome. I would want to make sure that a past spouse who may be disgruntled or someone else was not ordering for malicious use. This is an item that will be discussed in the planning session.
